SimCity 5 Technical and Business Analysis
Rather than working on my own game (whoops), I’ve ended up spending a lot of time lately reading about and thinking about what on (Sim-)Earth EA and Maxis are doing with the new SimCity.
The bizarre architecture they’ve chosen for SimCity appears to be remarkably similar to something I was researching back when Stick Ninjas was a completely different, semi-asynchronous, MMO rouge-like. So, with a few educated guesses, I think I have some interesting technical analysis to put forward, as well as some thoughts (and vitriol) for the business possibilities that follow.
Of course, I don’t really know what is going on inside of EA/Maxis. So if it turns out that I’m completely off-base here, let’s just pretend that this is just an entertaining work of fiction 🙂
