Today was Day 14 of Captain Stretchy-Arms development, what was originally scheduled to be the final day of development. Unfortunately – the game isn’t finished.

The good news is that the audio is done, and you can try it out in the latest download which you can get here. Today’s download is quite a bit larger (4.3MB) than previous ones, because of all that audio. (New key: M to toggle music.)

The bad news is that none of the graphics have been done. What has happened is I have designed a graphical look that I don’t actually know how to create. The major difficulty is that I want to have segmented tiles with a glossy metallic-black look, but I don’t know how to turn this idea into actual pixels.

Segmented tile design. Black, to contrast against a light background.

And, to be honest, this blockage has caused me to procrastinate quite a bit in the last few days.

But this is what the schedule is there for – and rather than keep pushing against this and risk burning out, I am going to take a break from Captain Stretchy-Arms for a couple of days.

Perhaps after that I will have a better idea of what to do. Options include: spending the time to figure out how to do the art myself, coming up with an alternative design, or finding somebody to do the art for me.
